This web site was designed to throw open the doors of AOL's development house to the general developer community. Our goal was to provide you with a single entry point to AOL's open APIs along with all the technical know-how you will need to enhance applications with all the cool features and services that our APIs provide. Armed with these tools, we know that you'll be able to develop neat applications. But we're hoping that you do even more than march down existing paths. We hope you will use what you find here to invent new implementations and applications that excite the developer community as well as delight general users. We encourage you to get under the hood of our APIs and give them a real workout. Then come back and report what you find. Above all, please share your successes, issues, experiments, and lessons learned with the community of developers you find here.

We've tried to provide you with all you need to dream up cool implementations, develop them, and bring them to market. Hopefully, you will find all the guideposts you need here from design through development and testing to release. We've also set up a technical support staff and give you access to tools, tips, documentation, and snippets to make your integrations go smoothly. The site also provides the full range of state-of-the-art community tools and resources for you to access the cerebral muscle of your fellow developers through blogs, feeds, forums, message boards, and other community tools. Please don't be shy. We encourage you to share successful development strategies as well as advise others on how to avoid unnecessary detours, or report bugs. Above all, if you can think of things we've overlooked on the site, or have features you want added, speak up and share your ideas. Check out the featured developers and gallery sections. Most of the API pages, as well, showcase successful applications in galleries. We also encourage you to browse and explore. If there is something you'd like to see but can't find, please contact us with your idea and we'll try to provide it in a future release.

All of the currently available APIs, along with a brief description are available on the APIs page. You can follow the links for their detailed descriptions and technical information.

To maximize your options to communicate directly with other developers, we've built an entire Community page where you can access blogs, forums and wikis. Many of the APIs also sponsor additional ways for you to send feedback to other developers who use those APIs.
Do you have a description and release schedule of other APIs now in the pipeline?
