Usage Guidelines
You are eligible to use the AIM logo (“Logo”), at no charge, provided that you are a developer who has executed the Open AIM Platform Developer Agreement and Terms of Service (“Agreement”) and you adhere to the terms of this Styleguide and any revisions thereto. By using the Logo you agree to be bound by this Styleguide.
- The Logo may only be used as part of a Web AIM Application or AIM Custom Client which allows at a minimum the following functionality:
- A sign on screen allowing users to log on to the AIM network by entering both a Screen Name and a password
- Text instant messaging
- Online status indicators if a contact list of Screen Names is displayed
- The Logo may not be used in a manner that expresses or implies an affiliation with, sponsorship or endorsement by AOL.
- Each use of the Logo must be accompanied by your name, company name, trademark or logo, as appropriate (“Developer's Branding”).
- The Developer's Branding must be more prominent in placement and size than the Logo.
- The Logo must appear by itself with sufficient spacing so that there is a distinct visual separation between each side of the Logo and any other graphical or textual elements including but not limited to the Developer's Branding.
- The Logo and Developer's Branding may not create the impression of a composite mark.
- The Logo consists of two elements: the AIM Running Man followed by the mark Open AIM. These elements may not be reordered or moved to different relative positioning with regards to each other or used separately. The Logo may be changed in size to accommodate a particular user interface or application element size, provided that the Logo is legible.
- You agree that:
- The Logo will not be used on or in connection with any application or product other than a Web AIM Application or AIM Custom Client.
- You will present the Logo using approved artwork and will adhere to the “Do's and Don'ts” in this Styleguide including those with respect to background colors, Logo colors, and proportion.
- You will use the following trademark notice in connection with the Logo: “Running Man and AIM are trademarks of AOL LLC or its affiliates and are used under license.”
- Upon request by AOL, you will provide samples of your use of the Logo.
- Upon request by AOL, you will promptly take corrective action to comply with the Agreement and this Styleguide.
- AOL is the sole owner of the Logo and all associated goodwill. Your use of the Logo will not give you any right, title, or interest in or to the Logo other than the limited permission to use it according to these guidelines. Any goodwill that might arise from your use of the Logo will benefit AOL.
- AOL reserves the right to take any action against any use of the Logo that does not confirm to this Styleguide or violates any applicable law.
- AOL MAKES NO WARRANTIES REGARDING THE LOGO, AND HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE IMPLIED BY LAW, INCLUDING WARRANTIES AGAINST INFRINGEMENT.
The Logo
The size and position of the Logo and logotype is fixed and should not be realigned or scaled in different proportions.

Do's and Don'ts
Strive to use the Logo on background colors which provide sufficient contrast and present the Logo in a color combination which does not clash or compete with the Logo colors.
The elements that make up the Logo have been designed in specific colors, proportion, sizes and placement. In order to maintain the integrity and consistency of the brand, these elements should not be altered or manipulated in any way. However, in the event the Logo is situated on a dark background, the reverse Logotype may be used to enhance the visibility and readability of the Logotype.

Don'ts
The elements that make up the Logo have been designed in specific colors, proportion, sizes and placement. In order to maintain the integrity and consistency of the AIM brand, these elements should not be altered or manipulated. Rules apply for all applications.
