  • From AOL: AOL Introduces Open Voice APIs

    AOL today introduced Open Voice APIs to provide third-party developers and VoIP device manufacturers with open standards protocols that will enable them to easily integrate the AIM Call Out service into softphones, as well as SIP-enabled hardware and cell phones with wi-fi connectivity. AIM Call Out integration will enable users to make low cost voice calls from anywhere in the world using the Internet to relay these calls. The Open Voice APIs can be found at http://dev.aol.com/aimcall.

    AIM Call Out is a pay-as-you-go outbound voice calling service built right into AIM that lets users make calls to landline and cell phones in more than 200 countries.     AOL announced that five leading application developers – Action Engine, Aricent, Infosys, Obopay, and ShoZu – support the AOL Open Mobile Platform initiative and anticipate delivering a new breed of wireless applications based on the platform. The AOL Open Mobile Platform will provide developers with ready access to the tools and source code they need to build and distribute applications across all major mobile device platforms and operating systems including BREW, Java, Linux, RIM, Symbian, and Windows Mobile.   • From AOL: AOL Launches AOL MyMobile All-In-One Application for Wireless Devices
    AOL today announced the availability of a beta version of AOL MyMobile, a new application designed to give users easy access to popular AOL services through their mobile devices. The company also announced today enhancements to AOL Mobile Search that now enable easy access to the service for BlackBerry device users, as well as the extension of the AIM TXT shortcode service across all major carriers in the U.S. These and other AOL services for mobile devices will be demonstrated at this week’s CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas.   • From AOL: AOL Announces Open AIM 2.0 Developer Program
    AOL today announced the launch of Open AIM 2.0 (http://dev.aol.com/openaim), affording the developer community the freedom to access the AIM instant messaging network with unprecedented ease and to integrate AIM into their web sites and applications in their own ways. Open AIM 2.0 now offers free SDKs and APIs that support third-party chat services, as well as instant messaging applications designed for mobile, enterprise and international use.
