Quick question about Key Registration

What is the "Destination URL" for? I'm planning to register for a key because I'm making a custom client but It's a required field and I don't know what it means..

I think the idea it was the url to the site that hosts your web app or
downloadable client, but it is not mandatory, you can provide any url and
use the key as you desire.
