I didn't even know there was a AIM Chat beta. That's a very interesting option. I'm hoping that 35 will accommodate our crowd but I want a very easy to use backup if not. If AIM ever creates something near comparable to IRC but with the architecture of AIM.

Which it looks like... fascinating. Kind of sad that it must be flash based, but I guess there must be a compromise. Ah, and not at all linked to current rooms (tried the buddy invite function)... That's a pity too. And no apparent equivalent admin functionalities.

I don't have the number handy, but yes it does appear to be fairly small (35?). One option you have is to try the new AIM Chat at http://chat.aim.com - allows up to 250/room (50 per sub-room). Right now user created chats aren't exposed in the directory, but that will change with the next release very soon.
