There's a ton of cool content that's ready for you to customize. I'm going to show you how easy it is to customize a widget you like, and then deploy it! In my example I'm going to deploy the widget to my Mac OS X Dashboard. Let's get started!

Customizing a Widget

I've picked the Weather Channel widget (http://www.yourminis.com/minis/yourminis/bobmop/mini:weather), as shown in Figure 1. Click on the Edit Me button in the upper left.

As shown in Figure 2 you can change your location, and how temperatures are reported. If you click on the color icon in the upper right of the widget you can modify the background and text colors.

Figure 2. Configuring Your Widget.

Some widgets may have more complex configuration, but for the Weather Channel widget that's it. You're ready to deploy it!

Deploying Your Custom Widget

As shown in Figure 3, click on the Copy Me button. You can deploy your widgets to:

  • AIM Profile Pages
  • MySpace
  • Facebook
  • Hi5
  • Friendster
  • FreeWebs
  • Piczo
  • Netvibes
  • Xanga
  • Yourminis
  • iGoogle
  • Live.com
  • Pageflakes

  • Vista Sidebar
  • Mac OS X Dashboard
  • Yahoo Widgets

Figure 3. Deploy Your Widget.

I've selected the Mac OS X Dashboard. When I click on the icon a zip file is downloaded to my computer. Unzipping the file gives me a .wdgt file that I can install. You can see the widget in action on my Mac OS X Dashboard in Figure 4.

It's that easy! And really cool!
