Open Xtraz FAQs
Developing Open Xtraz
What is available to developers developing Open Xtraz?
We allow
the use of Standard Java Script and HTML and a restricted set of Active X (Flash,
Ajax). We do not allow
the use of Java applets.
What are the differences between Local and Web
Xtraz?
When a Local Xtra is downloaded, the content of the Xtra is
downloaded from ICQ servers to the user’s machine and the Xtra is run from
there.
On the other hand, the content of the Web Xtra is hosted on a Web server
and is accessed via a URL.
Do I need to download a new template for each Xtra I develop?
Yes.
The first step when developing an Xtra is always to download a new template.
Updating Your Open Xtraz
I want to update my Open Xtra but do not have the source
files. What can I do?
You can download your Open Xtra from the Gallery.
Once you login, the Open Xtraz you developed will appear under My
Devs and you can download them. You then need to open the Developer's
Tool and create an Under development copy of the published Xtra you downloaded.
When I update my Open Xtra, how will the users who have
already deployed the Xtra know that I have updated it?
When
your updated Open Xtra is published the Open Xtra is automatically updated
for all users who have deployed the Open Xtra.
Sharing Open Xtraz
How can I share my Open Xtra?
You can only share the Xtra
after it was published. You can then download it from the Gallery and distribute
it to friends in your Contact list. You cannot share an Xtra under development.
Can I share my Open Xtra with anyone?
No. you can only share
the Xtra with ICQ 6.5 users. If you want to share an Open Xtra with a non-user,
invite them to download ICQ6.5.
