The AOL Pictures open API is a free service that allows you to retrieve public data (photos, captions, and more) stored on AOL Pictures. Photos are meant to be shared. With this open API , we want to enable everyone to share public photos in new, creative, and innovative ways. Experimentation is the key to innovation, and we highly encourage you to experiment and create your own web application, widget, or tool.
AOL Pictures API Usage Rules
You may access pictures and albums contained in the Public Gallery of AOL Pictures using the open AOL Pictures JSON API solely for purposes of displaying the pictures on your own personal and publicly available web site providing you:
- Properly identify AOL Pictures as the source of any pictures from AOL Pictures. We suggest you use the following attribution in the bottom right corner below any image: SOURCE: AOL ® PICTURES;
- Use the pictures and the API materials for your own personal, noncommercial use. For purposes of clarity, your Site and your use of the AOL Pictures functionality may not be used to directly or indirectly derive revenue or otherwise commercialize pictures. You may only upload or display the pictures on your own personal Site, and without limitation of the preceding, in no event may you upload or display the pictures to any third party website or service;
- Comply with any restrictions on use associated with the pictures or albums accessed or Public Gallery use generally.
- Invoke the API no more than ten thousand (10,000) times in any twenty-four (24) hour period.
- Comply with the AOL Developers Network Agreement and Terms of Service .
If you wish to commercialize your web site functionality, or to be permitted more than 10,000 API calls, you must enter into a separate commercial license agreement with AOL.
