The Presidential Election Mac OS X Dashboard Widget - The Implementation
After introducing the idea of a Presidential Election Widget last week, I’m pleased to present the implementation! As I indicated last week – my plan was to take the TruveoCast widget I previously wrote about – and turn it from a widget designed to browse the video favorites of Truveo users – to a presidential election news cast – right on your Mac OS X Dashboard!

I recently created the NFL Video of the Day gadget for Windows Vista and wrote an article on how it was made. After John's blog about creating a Mac Widget for the elections I figured I'd adapt my NFL gadget and change it into an Election 2008 Video of the Day gadget. Mine is not as fancy as I think his will be, but then again, it's just for fun, right?

The Presidential Election Mac OS X Dashboard Widget - The Idea
A press release last week, announced the Truveo launch of a comprehensive Presidential Election video site. According to the press release:
Truveo's election site includes pages for each of the leading candidates in the Democratic and Republican primary races: Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Barack Obama on the Democratic side and Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, and Mitt Romney on the Republican side. The site also has pages for coverage from national, international and local sources as well as the ever-popular late night shows.

Elephant's Pajamas is a Mac OS X Dashboard widget, powered by AOL Truveo, that provides access to funny joke videos. Truveo is a one-stop destination for searching video resources available all over the Internet, including AOL Music, AOL Video, YouTube, CNN, NBC, Fox News, and much more. Elephant's Pajamas uses the Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) API provided by Truveo to search through all the funny joke videos available from the resources aggregated by Truveo, and then randomly select one video, which the user can view in their Web browser.
