Welcome onboard Yahoo!
I want to congratulate our peers on the Yahoo! Authentication team for a job well done. As you might have already read - they released their OpenID support as public beta yesterday. We got a sneak preview from Allen and Shreyas last week and we were quite impressed with the way they dealt with usability, security and user education. Their implementation and presentation is a very good start to set a baseline for all OpenID Providers.
As I have mentioned several times before both internally and externally, our end users do not need to know what OpenID or SAML or OAuth are. What we need to educate them about is how they can now use their favorite ID from their favorite IDP and use it anywhere without worrying about the protocol details. I am looking forward for those days ahead and ready to do anything we can to make it a reality.
Alright, now that we have the major Identity Providers supporting OpenID, let's roll up our sleeves and get our products to support any OpenIDs. :-)

Email address/microsoft free trial
I tried to load MS free small business trial on dial up. I had to cancel the transaction from connection failure. Got a laptop and can't reload the trial through existing email address, need to find an alternate webname to download trial so I can install MS small business upgrade that cost $301.64. Thanks for any suggestions, I'm not that computer literate to find the free email site alone- need program installed asap. BVG
Some suggestions to improve AOL's OpenID support
Hey guys,
My congratulations on being one of the earliest OpenID adopters.
2 suggestions:
* Can you figure out who the user is on the OP side so that a simple request to "openid.aol.com" will work -- instead of having to ask the user for their explicit openid.aol.com/username...
* Can you provide a standardised "AOL/AIM" logo to use as a mini-icon to indicate to users that they can use their account "here" ?
And, oh, I realise OpenID support is very much beta, but... is some major overhaul happening at the moment? Because I'm not able to login... ;-)
Thanks!
