Xdrive has several open source and open developer based projects.
These projects reflect our strong commitment to innovative technology, open standards, and the developer community.
Open XDSP JSON API
The Xdrive Data Services Platform (XDSP) JSON API allows developers to access the storage, services, and functions of the XDSP programmatically via a set of web services. We chose JSON (JavaScript On the Network) as our preferred "standard" because it is light and flexible. Emphasis has been placed on creating a set of APIs that can continue to grow and be versioned without disrupting legacy applications.
Unlike other web resource based APIs, the resources offered via the XDSP are not allocated to the developer nor the application. The resources are allocated to the end user. For example, if you want to develop a backup program, you don't not have to acquire enough Xdrive storage for all of your customers. You can develop the program, and each end user will use their own free storage. This allows individual developers access to the same enterprise level services to which only larger corporations and organizations traditionally had access.
The XDSP provides a host of features including:
- Network storage
- Full file system with full CRUD and I/O
- Sharing and Access Control to assets
- Email and publishing assets
- Generation for thumbnails and other media metadata
EclipseSpaces
|
Xdrive/AOL is working with the Eclipse Foundation to create EclipseSpaces.
EclipseSpaces will give any developer a one-click ability to publish their Eclipse modules to an open storage platform. They will be able to collaborate and publish their code and binaries. |

Mac Widgets
Coming Soon...We are currently developing OS X widgets based on our Open XDSP API. These widgets will demonstrate various aspects of the API and the service, and serve as a template for any developers interested in developing OS X widgets. |
